Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU Float

Position Overview

This role is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float. The position requires strong experience in telemetry or Intermediate Care (IMC) nursing. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, managing complex patient needs, and collaborating with healthcare team members.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage patients on telemetry, monitor cardiac rhythms, and interpret dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and amiodarone.
• Utilize non-invasive airway management techniques and adhere to oxygen protocols.
• Activate rapid response teams as necessary and document patient care accurately using computerized systems.
• Ensure compliance with isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
• Participate in floating to various units as needed, including support at a sister location.
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios as established.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a PCU or IMC setting within the last 3 years.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Experience with telemetry management and cardiac rhythm interpretation is essential.
• Ability to care for patients requiring peripheral line care and management.
• Familiarity with computerized documentation and electronic health records.
• Candidates must be flexible and willing to float to different units to meet facility needs.
• No first-time travelers accepted.

Work Schedule

This position generally requires 12-hour shifts. Weekend shifts are expected every other weekend but not greater than every other weekend.
