As a Vice President, Technology Investment Banking // M&A at Portage Point, you will work on a variety of transactions across software, technology and tech services that provide exposure to various investment banking services, including mergers and acquisitions, growth equity, private placements of debt and equity securities and other financial advisory services. The role represents a unique opportunity for a highly capable professional with a strong tech sector foundation to make substantial contributions to overall firm growth in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. ResponsibilitiesWork with the Portage Point Technology IB team (Associates to Managing Directors) to execute all deliverables necessary to consummate transactions for our middle-market technology clients primarily on domestic and cross-border M&A transactionsPlay an integral role on Technology IB deal teams, provide execution support primarily for sell-side mergers and acquisitions, as well as occasional buy-side mandates, growth equity, private placements and other financial advisory services for clientsLead the preparation of company valuations, financial models, company marketing documents and client presentations in addition to performing research and various analyses in support of new business generationCreate and present internal and external client deliverablesSupport the creation of client marketing materials (Teasers, Confidential Information Presentations, Management Presentations, etc.) to be distributed to prospective investorsAid with the management of, and compliance with, all administrative standard operating procedures associated with a transaction Provide professional development coaching to junior team membersShare and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where requiredSupport business development efforts within the tech ecosystem, including origination and relationship-building with founders, financial sponsors and strategic acquirors, while maintaining strong relationships with existing clientsMaintain current knowledge of tech sector trends, financing activity and public and private market valuation benchmarks across various subsectors in software, tech and tech servicesSupport talent acquisition and firm development effortsContribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive cultureQualificationsBachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate programLocated or willing to self-relocate to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or PhiladelphiaWilling to go into the local Portage Point office four days a weekWilling to work at client sites as neededSeven plus years of experience working for a top-tier investment bank at the Associate or Vice President level is preferred, with direct experience advising technology, software or tech services companies strongly preferredGenuine interest in and knowledge of the tech sector including emerging trends across software, tech services and AIStrong financial modeling skills and an excellent grasp of corporate finance and valuation methodologies including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables, with fluency in tech-specific valuation frameworks (e.g. revenue and ARR based valuation, SaaS unit economics, retention metrics)Series 79 and 63 licensing preferred or the ability to obtain within 120 days of employmentAbility to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environmentHigh degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, tech founders, private equity and growth equity firms, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workersEffectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formattingEagerness to be responsive at all timesProven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquetteTop-tier organizational skills and attention to detailSelf-starter and entrepreneurial spirit$400,000 - $600,000 a yearThe City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum cash compensation for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate.
