Description - Aquila's Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center. The pay rate for this position is $46,500 or $22.36/hour. The work week is Monday-Friday and candidates should be able to work schedules from 6a.m.-2p.m., 9a.m.-5 p.m., and 11a.m. -7p.m. on alternating days. Responsibilities include: Supervise exercise areas; Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques; Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines; Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations; Aid members - spotting and equipment usage; Explain all equipment; Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment; Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures; Adhere to client's policies and procedures; Attend staff meetings; Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events; Perform daily administrative duties.
Qualifications: B.S. in Exercise Physiology or in related health/fitness field, and National fitness certification accredited by NCCA (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM or NSCA) - can be obtained within 90 days of hire; Active CPR certification; 0-1 year experience in supervising adults during exercises; Must be a U.S. Citizen due to this location being a federal agency that requires citizenship as part of its security clearance. Skills required: Excellent communication skills; Knowledge of fitness training principles; Customer service oriented; Organized; Punctual; Dependable; Knowledgeable; Creative; Maintain a desire for continual improvement. All candidates must be able to complete a background check.
