Position Overview

This role involves delivering clinical guidance and supervision to medical residents and students within various settings, including ambulatory clinics and hospitals. Responsibilities include providing educational instruction through seminars, lectures, workshops, and grand rounds. Additionally, mentoring and advising residents and students is a key component, along with offering comprehensive patient care in family medicine, which encompasses obstetrics. The position also entails developing, implementing, and assessing educational curricula. Administrative responsibilities include participating in faculty meetings, serving on committees, engaging in accreditation reviews, and representing the program at relevant professional gatherings. There are opportunities for faculty development and involvement in scholarly pursuits.

Qualifications

Required: Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree, have completed a Family Medicine residency, be board certified in their specialty, and hold or be eligible for a medical license in Minnesota.

Preferred: Ideal candidates will have three or more years of clinical experience post-residency, at least one year of teaching experience in a medical setting, and a background in educational program development and evaluation. Experience in mentoring trainees in scholarly activities is also desirable.

Department Overview

The Family Medicine and Community Health Department has been a pioneer in training primary care physicians for over 45 years, established in response to a legislative requirement. We have consistently led the way in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. Our organization sponsors eight family medicine residency programs—five located in urban areas and three in rural regions. We are actively involved in medical education across two campuses and offer four fellowship programs in various specialties, along with continuing medical education opportunities. Our department is frequently recognized among the top recipients of National Institutes of Health funding for family medicine, with faculty engaged in research on health disparities, healthcare delivery, and population health.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: This position is jointly employed by our organization and affiliated medical professionals. The academic salary starts at $52,000, depending on the academic contributions of the individual. Clinical compensation, which corresponds to clinical responsibilities, is provided through our affiliated medical group. The total salary range is between $210,000 and $230,000, influenced by factors such as call responsibilities, years of experience, and academic rank. This compensation is competitive and aligned with AAMC salary benchmarks, with additional earning potential available through an incentive pay plan. Candidates should complete both this application and a separate application for the affiliated medical group.
