Litigation Associate - Insurance Defense

Seeking a Litigation Associate to manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.

Location: New Haven, CT | Full-Time | In-Person Compensation: Commensurate with Experience

Our client is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2+ years of experience to join its growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense, particularly in general liability, medical malpractice, insurance coverage, and/or personal injury.

This role offers meaningful responsibility, collaboration with experienced attorneys, and opportunities to further develop litigation and trial skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence.
• Handle discovery and assist with depositions, hearings, negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Represent clients in court proceedings and settlement negotiations.
• Develop case strategy and collaborate with senior attorneys.
• Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active state bar admission required.
• 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and case-management skills.
• Discovery experience required.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Trial experience is a plus.
