Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform routine and moderately complex clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role is responsible for producing accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with quality standards, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.
• Analyze test results and make sound technical decisions related to testing, quality, and problem resolution.
• Prepare, evaluate, and implement new reagents, controls, and testing procedures as needed.
• Accurately document and report patient test results within established turnaround times.
• Perform and document quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and preventive maintenance activities.
• Assist with specimen receipt, processing, and preparation when required.
• Monitor inventory levels and replenish laboratory supplies to support daily operations.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety protocols and consistently utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or another related scientific discipline.
• Must meet applicable CLIA, state, and local regulatory requirements for Medical Laboratory Technicians.
• 1-2+ years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• State Medical Laboratory Technician license may be required depending on location.
• ASCP and/or AMT certification preferred; may be required based on state or facility requirements.
• Experience working in clinical laboratory environments, including areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, or immunology, is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and computer systems; familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternative shifts based on business needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
