About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in BMT/Hematology and chemotherapy administration required. License: Current Registered Nurse License. Certifications: - AHA BLS - Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC) Must-Have: - Must be comfortable with and have prior experience working in flexible staffing ratios. - Ability to float between similar units based on facility needs. Description: The role involves providing nursing care for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies. Candidates must manage and administer treatments including stem cell transplants and CAR-T. The unit has 51 staffed beds and nurses may float between related units based on staffing needs. Registered Nurses will have a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 3-4:1, though this may adjust based on unit demands. Experience in working within an interdisciplinary support team is essential. Nurses should demonstrate proficiency in administering medications and handling medical emergencies like anaphylaxis or sepsis. Knowledge of various oncology-related conditions is necessary, including but not limited to leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The ideal candidate will possess skills in central line care, chemotherapy administration, and monitoring patient outcomes. Understanding of the management of side effects related to treatments such as nausea, vomiting, and other complications is important. Flexibility in scheduling is crucial, including weekend shifts as per unit needs. Overall, a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment is required.
