Accounting SpecialistLa Causa Inc. is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the daily operations of our Finance and Accounting Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting reporting functions, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting leadership to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.Prepare, complete, distribute, and/or submit required financial items by established deadlines (accounts payable, payment requests, journal entries, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, deposits, audit requests, etc.)Manage, enter, maintain, and report on data in applicable systems and databasesServe as back-up for Finance and Accounting functions, including payroll, as neededCreate, maintain, and update documentation including AP vendor files, payroll files, employee benefits worksheets, and departmental recordsEnsure all documentation is accurate and compliant with agency policies and procedures; reconcile discrepancies and correct errors as necessaryProvide support services to the Chief Financial Officer and/or Accounting Manager as assignedComply with all legal, organizational, and contractual requirements, laws, and policiesAttend meetings and professional development activities as requestedEstablish and maintain effective communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all stakeholdersFulfill mandated reporter responsibilities in accordance with applicable lawsPerform other related duties as assignedContribute as an active and supportive team memberAssociate Degree in Accounting from an accredited school.One (1) year of experience in accounting; experience in the not-for-profit field highly desirable.Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office suite (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases).Able to demonstrate positive cultural intelligence with diverse groups and individuals.Good critical thinking, organizational skills, and able to manage multiple priorities.Good communication, verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and ability to work with others.Valid Wisconsin driver's license, car, and state minimum insurance required, and must meet La Causa driving standards.Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracyExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesProficiency in financial systems and database managementAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretionStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environmentMust successfully pass all required background checks and pre-employment drug screeningWork is primarily performed in an office settingMonday through ThursdayRemote Fridays (Equipment will be provided, Laptop)No WeekendsAttendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, reach, stoop, bend, and walk.
