About the Position

Job Title: Staff Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of six months to three years of nursing experience License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience with intensive cardiac patients (CHF, COPD, end-stage heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and normothermia). Experience with stroke patients (thrombectomy/TNK). Experience with ICU overflow. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, policies, Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment. The RN considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact. The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources. The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy. The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization including staffing, time management, supplies, and services. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies. The RN actively participates in and supports nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review practices. The RN engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completes all mandatory education requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN performs duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator when assigned. The RN participates in the Clinical Ladder Program as knowledge and expertise develop. The RN will perform other duties as assigned.
