Backend Software Engineer

Salary: $190,000 - 210,000 per year Requirements:

• At least 6 years of experience as a senior backend or platform engineer.
• Hands-on experience designing and shipping a correctness-critical transactional system.
• Continue to write production code and seek broad technical ownership rather than a management-only or architecture-only role.
• Experience in one or more of these areas is preferred: transactional systems such as bookings, payments, orders, reservations, or inventory; external APIs and integrations; domain and relational data modeling.

• Lead the technical work and serve as the primary hands-on engineer for our booking API.
• Build and launch an external booking API with stable, versioned contracts for pricing, availability, holds, booking creation, changes, and cancellations.
• Make booking operations resilient to failures by designing idempotency, recovery, webhooks, and reconciliation for retries, timeouts, duplicates, and partial success.
• Evolve the core booking domain by establishing clear models and invariants for products, schedules, prices, inventory, holds, carts, and bookings.
• Extend the shared booking platform to support new categories, such as events or food and beverage, without requiring separate systems.
• Own the architecture for supply, PMS, and POS integrations, and develop reusable connector patterns for partner integrations and failure handling.
• Define data contracts that keep inventory discoverable through OpenSearch; search is a supporting technology, not the primary area of ownership.
• Operate the systems we build by setting reliability and latency targets and adding tests, metrics, dashboards, alerts, tracing, and runbooks for the booking path.
• Translate partner needs into durable platform capabilities, explain tradeoffs, and strengthen engineering practices through practical reviews and mentoring.
