Hamill Manufacturing Company has a full-time employment opportunity as a 2nd Shift or 3rd shift CNC Machinist. Hamill is 100% Employee Owned and Operated and looking for a motivated individual to join our team.

All back-shift machinists receive a 10% shift differential. This position includes a sign-on bonus of $3,000 total paid out as $1,000 at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months of employment.

We are an established company that provides machined products to the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program as well as commercial customers.

Summary:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, including computer-controlled machines, to produce precision parts. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools.

• Reads and interprets blueprints to plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop machine tools.
• Uses full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection from start to finish of job.
• Performs repair, rebuilding or overhaul work from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, written or verbal instructions.
• Starts up and shuts down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA requirements. Frequently works with other tradespersons such as electricians, welders, etc.
• Makes repair parts if not commercially available or available from company inventory.
• Plans setup and operation of typical machine shop machine tools, producing parts to close tolerances and company specifications.
• Follows Standard Operating Procedure requirements.
• Tactile inspection of parts may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: In addition to the completion of a formal apprenticeship program with Journeyperson papers achieved, candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a machinist.

Language Ability: Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; able to speak effectively to co-workers.

Math Ability: - Working knowledge of trigonometry and algebra.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses:

A fork truck safety training certificate is required.

Journeyperson papers required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop or kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
