Parking Controller/AttendantUniversity City Police DepartmentThe parking controller is responsible for issuing parking tickets for violations through walking or driving a vehicle, performing School Traffic escorts duties when needed, and other administrative duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Bureau of Services Commander.  Essential Functions:The following duties are normal for this position, but not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required as assigned.Issue tickets for parking violations using parking control hardware and software, or manually if necessaryPerform school crossing guard duties when neededPerform deliveries when needed and other administrative tasksAssist with traffic control and other non-criminal related activities when an officer is not availableRegular, reliable attendanceVarious different shifts to be assignedPerforms other duties as assigned.Desired Knowledge, SKILLS, and Abilities AND QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of Police Department operating rules, and regulations Knowledge of the geography of University CityKnowledge of all regulations and ordinances pertaining to parkingKnowledge of the laws and ordinances regulating the operation of automotive vehicles.Ability to operate a vehicle safetyAbility to learn the functions and operate the parking control hardware and software.Ability to work independently and efficiently without constant supervision.Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written formAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, and the general public.Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job FunctionsHigh School diploma or equivalent.
