Assistant Corporate Controller

Asset Talent Partners is running a confidential search for an Assistant Controller at a well-established, diversified real estate firm headquartered in Scottsdale. The firm’s portfolio spans residential development, multifamily, industrial, and office. This role is for an experienced accounting leader who does their best work when the entity structure is complex. You’ll own consolidations across a high volume of entities, with partnership structures and multi-tier ownership throughout. You’ll report to the Director of Accounting and lead a team that includes two manager-level direct reports. Exceptional candidates may be considered at the Controller level. What you’ll own Consolidated financial statements across a large, multi-tier entity structure, working with the Director of Accounting Partnership and JV accounting across multiple ownership tiers, including capital accounts, distributions, and intercompany activity Reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financials for the corporate entities you’re assigned, and keeping entity-level reporting accurate and consistent at volume Reviewing quarterly workbooks for corporate entities and serving as the main point of contact for outside tax and audit partners Leading, training, and mentoring the accounting team, including two manager-level direct reports Building processes, controls, and close discipline that scale as the number of entities grows Liquidity covenant reporting and support for project-level financing Treasury oversight, including banking administration and cash flow reporting with the Treasury Manager Corporate budgets in Yardi, including budget vs. actual reporting, plus corporate and project billbacks What you bring A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; CPA preferred 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with real estate development, investment, or fund accounting as a core part of it Deep, hands-on consolidation experience across a high volume of entities A strong technical grasp of partnership structures and multi-tier ownership Experience leading accounting teams, including managing managers A strong command of GAAP and intermediate or better Excel skills; Yardi experience is a plus Confident communication with internal teams, partners, and auditors Compensation $140,000 to $160,000 base, plus a 20% bonus target (total cash up to $192,000) Why this role You’ll own the most technical accounting at a sophisticated real estate platform.
