Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Remote: No Compensation $34.27 - $36.85 per hour (TCML) Position Overview Position Functions: Lead field service technicians installing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment across tractors and trailers. Manage safety, documentation, parts inventory, and customer communication. Responsibilities Make certain technicians under their lead are working safely, effectively, and efficiently. Diagnose and repair transmissions, engines, electrical, suspension, driveline, HVAC, brakes and air systems on tractors and trailers. Travel to remote sites for field repairs when moving equipment to the main shop would be counterproductive. Perform repairs in various weather conditions and site environments safely and efficiently. Perform light trailer body repairs including doors, tires, lighting system, etc. Maintain services for the company’s fleet of vehicles. Maintain shop equipment and service truck per company guidelines. Evaluate safety concerns and make necessary adjustments during travel and onsite duties. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications. Account for paid time on work orders and document steps taken throughout the repair process to maximize warranty recovery and record historical data. Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or better than SRT times. Source needed parts and communicate with Parts Supervisor for vendor payment. Maintain parts inventory integrity, warranty, core parts, and parts usage tracking from cradle to grave. Carry, monitor, and respond to company‑issued cellphones, texts, emails, and all other communications with accounts and management staff. Provide excellent customer service and focus on resolution. Perform other duties as assigned. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience 7+ years working on trailers. 7+ years working on tractors. Technical diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of required experience. Skills & Abilities Team building skills. Consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving mechanical problems. Excellent communication skills. Personable and detail‑oriented; dependable, independent, analytical, and proactive. Advanced welding skills required. Basic computer skills preferred. Ability to read and write required. Must provide own hand tools adequate to perform job functions. Licenses & Certifications DOT and Brake Certifications required. Valid driver’s license required. Meritor/Bendix and tandem assembly certification preferred. Supervisory Responsibility Act as mentor and point of contact for customers and lower‑level technicians; report to Shop Manager at a satellite terminal. Work Environment Work in infrequent temperature and humidity extremes up to 100% of workday (inside/outside). Candidates should be able to stand or walk for long periods, extensively use hands, and communicate verbally with teammates. Climbs 51’ with one 24” step and pulls full body weight. Climbs stairs 24″ without hand‑hold rail. Pulls self up ladder with 4x17” steps with upper body pull. In/out of truck on 51” and one 24” step pulling full body weight. Go up and down ramp frequently. Occasional push 250 lbs; pull 125 lbs; frequently push/pull 100/50 lbs; constantly push/pull 50/25 lbs. Occasional carry and lift overhead, high, low, and medium lift 51–75 lbs; frequent 50/21 lbs; constant 20–1 lbs. Must be able to perform all physical requirements with reasonable accommodation.
