Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority (SCCMHA) is seeking a Mental Health Supervisor (SCS) to provide clinical and administrative supervision to Support Coordinators, Mental Health Therapists, Community Liaisons, and support staff. This role oversees daily unit operations and monitors service delivery for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate actively supports culturally competent recovery-based practices, person centered planning, self-determination principles, and a trauma informed culture of safety to assist consumers in achieving their life goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and clinical supervision, guidance, and leadership to supports coordination staff, therapists, community liaisons, and support personnel.
• Monitor employee work performance, review clinical records, oversee Person Centered Planning (PCP) practices, analyze statistical reports, and coordinate service delivery across agencies.
• Screen, select, onboard, and train new staff members in consultation with the Director.
• Participate in supervisor and leadership meetings to optimize resource utilization, plan programs, coordinate interdepartmental efforts, and formulate policies and procedures.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with Habilitation Waivers, Children's Waivers, and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) guidelines.
• Assist staff with securing residential placements and monitoring Adult Foster Care (AFC) and Specialized Residential Homes.
• Develop positive support plans and behavior treatment plans based on behavioral functions, teaching these concepts to staff.
• Track local inpatient psychiatric admissions and state facility usage to identify diversion and step-down opportunities.
• Advocate for consumers, promote independence, support self-determination, and navigate guardianship issues.
• Develop and implement unit policies that ensure timely, respectful, and person-centered service delivery.
• Facilitate monthly staff meetings and individual supervision sessions while maintaining accurate documentation.
• Provide clinical leadership for evidence-based practices and ensure staff complete all required training.
• Lead continuous quality improvement (CQI) functions and handle administrative tasks including budget management.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
• Minimum of three years of professional clinical experience in mental health treatment programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
• Previous supervisory experience in a clinical mental health or related behavioral health organization preferred.
• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) with full LMSW licensure obtained within two years.
• Valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record.
• Demonstrated knowledge of person centered planning, trauma informed care, self-determination, and recovery-based principles.
• Strong skills in leadership, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, mediation, and budget management.
• Proficiency in computer systems, electronic recordkeeping, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Ability to travel to multiple locations in varying weather conditions and work with individuals who may display challenging behaviors.
• Ability to meet physical demands including standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

Saginaw County Community Mental Health (SCCMHA) is a local, independent, governmental unit serving the greater Saginaw County area, a Community Mental Health Services Program and has been a mental health authority under contract with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services since October 1, 1997.

In 2021, it was named a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. As a CCBHC, SCCMHA is a “one stop wellness center” and offers a full range of services that create access to care, stabilizes individuals in crisis and provides the necessary treatment for those with mental illnesses, intellectual/developmental disorders, children/youth with emotional disorders and substance use disorders regardless of their insurance coverage.

SCCMHA is a behavioral health provider but also a specialty network. The network is comprised of organizations that provide professional services, but also housing and other support services and interventions in both office and sitebased locations as well as in the homes of consumers and their families.
