Community Disaster Program Specialist

Job Description Support Disaster Program management and leadership in the Fayetteville NC region by managing volunteer engagement and direct assistance during local disasters. Provide guidance to a team of trained volunteers and implement initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program/service delivery. Key Responsibilities Empower Volunteers: Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for implementing volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming. Support the Program: Assist with the successful implementation of disaster cycle services program activities and functions, monitor, collect and analyze business data to improve services. Mission Capacity Building: Engage disaster volunteers and develop Disaster Leadership Volunteers to meet responsibilities in disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery or specific functional tasks. Ready to Respond: Participate in disaster response operations in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, upon completion of training requirements. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Skill: Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication; develop project plans and budgets. Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Availability: Ability to work outside regular hours including nights and weekends. Deployment: Required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside the region at least once a year; must meet training and physical capacity requirements. Relocation: This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.
