Teacher - ELL

Orange County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Teacher for English Language Learners (ELL). The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, promoting language acquisition, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to enhancing the educational experience for ELL students and ensuring their academic success.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of ELL students, focusing on language development and academic content.
- Assess students' language proficiency and academic progress, using data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate ELL strategies into the general curriculum and support the needs of ELL students in mainstream classes.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that respects and values cultural diversity.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster positive relationships and support student learning.
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to address the varying needs of ELL students.
- Stay informed about best practices in ELL education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Advocate for ELL students and help facilitate their integration into the school community.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding academic performance.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and collaborate with other educators to enhance the overall educational experience for all students.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in ELL or TESOL, or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Proven experience working with English Language Learners in a classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and effective instructional strategies for ELL students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends and policies related to ELL education.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
