Payroll Manager

Batchelor & Kimball is a mechanical contractor headquartered in Conyers, Georgia. We partner with our clients to deliver results across engineering, construction, operations and maintenance. We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to own the payroll function in‑house. The role requires confidence, experience and a commitment to accurate, timely payroll every week. What You’ll Do Run weekly payroll for both field and office staff, including union and non‑union employees. Maintain payroll records, timesheets and job costing data. Accurately calculate wages, deductions, benefits and taxes. Handle union reporting and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Submit union remittances and stay current on union rules and rates. Prepare and file payroll tax returns (federal, state, local). Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, certified payroll reporting and labor regulations. Maintain and optimize payroll systems (Sage, Viewpoint or similar). Collaborate with IT and HR to streamline payroll workflows and reporting. Generate payroll reports for finance and project teams. Support internal and external audits related to payroll and labor compliance. Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations and employee changes. Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing and labor allocation. Requirements Proven experience managing end‑to‑end payroll in the construction industry. Strong understanding of union payroll, certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements. Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and tax regulations. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. Good to Have Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Experience with mechanical contracting or specialty trades. Familiarity with construction accounting systems.
