This opportunity seeks an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)/Staff Pharmacist for a contract assignment in Tomball, TX, supporting a psychiatric specialty facility. The role involves overseeing pharmacy operations and providing high-quality medication management in a 128-bed hospital with an average daily census of 103 patients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily pharmacy operations and ensure compliance with regulations
- Staff and coordinate pharmacy personnel, including 2 technicians and PRN pharmacists
- Perform medication order entry using HCS system (training provided)
- Provide clinical pharmacy services tailored to psychiatric patient needs
- Support weekend and on-call coverage when per diem staff are unavailable
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Texas Pharmacist license is required
- Prior experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or Pharmacy Manager preferred
- Familiarity with psychiatric pharmacy practices is a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional weekend and on-call duties
Location: Tomball, TX (Houston area)
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Potential weekend coverage: 8:00 AM–2:30 PM (if per diem unavailable)
- On-call coverage as needed for staffing gaps
This contract is anticipated to last 8 to 12 weeks, with an immediate start preferred. Training on the facility’s order entry system (HCS) will be provided. Local candidates are highly encouraged to apply due to proximity preference.
