Position: Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Classification: Intern, 20 hours per month

Work Location: Remote

Position Summary: The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator will provide administrative and creative support for the organization, helping to execute campaigns and prioritize brand awareness. Key responsibilities include producing communication and marketing strategies across all social media platforms, and monthly newsletter. They will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and web designer/host to execute the following duties. The Coordinator requires strong organizational, communication, and technical skills, along with a creative and detail-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Communications & Marketing for Social Justice and Children’s Literature

• Create and disseminate a monthly newsletter and weekly social media posts for target audience of teachers, librarians, parents and other social justice advocates.
• Manage the organization’s social media content calendar.
• Responsible for ensuring posts are scheduled to align with product launches, campaigns, or current events.
• Responsible for organization’s engagement and the increase of its online presence and engagement about social justice and children’s literature, particularly the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award program
• Track how posts are performing using analytics tools, monitoring likes, shares, comments and additional engagement metrics.
• Create and design the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award program
• Support fundraising on social media and in the newsletter
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A degree preferred
• 1-2 years of administrative or creative experience
• Experience in a non-profit setting or equivalent preferred
• Experience with Google Analytics/similar analytics platforms, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Mailchimp
• Experience using various online social media platforms, including but not limited to websites,

Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn required

• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and a willingness to uphold the organization’s core values
• Excellent writing skills - ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
• Ability to brainstorm and develop ideas for fundraising campaigns
• Proven ability to work collaboratively
• Attention to detail and ability to organize and set priorities
• A genuine interest in the organization’s mission and values
