MRI Tech

Responsibilities Under the direction of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI examinations, providing independent judgment in all tasks. The technologist enters data using approved HonorHealth systems, is responsible for magnetic resonance (MR) safety in zone 3 or 4, and ensures that 100% of patients are screened for MR safety before entering the zone. The individual serves as a patient safety advocate and exemplifies ICARE values (Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy) in all interactions. The role requires operating within the scope of practice, providing coverage at various locations in the HonorHealth network, and participating in on‑call coverage as needed. Essential Functions Practice high‑quality patient care and utilize two‑step patient identification. Review orders and histories to confirm appropriate procedure and imaging site. Protocol procedures with radiologist as needed and obtain approvals for non‑MR conditional implants. Assist anesthesia and nursing staff for patients undergoing general sedation. Transport patients to and from the exam room, escorting them into position using safe patient‑handling techniques. Perform MRI procedures and monitor patients throughout to ensure safety and comfort. Administer contrast materials and respond promptly to contrast reactions. Interpret images to ensure proper technical factors and protocol, using annotations for optimal image quality. Utilize EMR/RIS, PACS, and other ancillary image‑management systems. Rotate through the department or other hospital locations as staffing and volume dictate. Participate in orientation, training, and in‑servicing of staff as required. Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily workflow, including contacting patients or offices as necessary. Maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff in the assigned area; manage stock, inventory, and equipment maintenance. Document and perform required quality‑control testing, contacting service for repairs as directed. Education High School Diploma or GED (required) Associate’s degree (preferred) Experience Six months of clinical experience via employment or training (required). Licensure & Certifications ARRT‑American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Certification, in one of the following modalities: ARRT NMTCB, ARMRIT, ARDMS; U.S. military Radiology General Procedures training program; ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT within a year of hire. Current licensure in one of the modalities listed above. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (current and valid).
