Maintenance Machine Tool Repair Technician

Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools material handling system and automated lubrication system by performing the following duties.

• Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to: conveyors lathes mills grinders saws pneumatic and hydraulic systems pumps gears bearings compressors etc.
• Uses precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles material thickness and small distances with calipers squares micrometers and other tools.
• Fits bearings align gears and wheels attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturers blueprints and drawings
• Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers wrenches crowbars and other hand tools
• Fabricates and installs parts on equipment and machinery by measuring cutting and drilling
• Assist with the unloading inspecting moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes hoists dollies rollers and trucks
• Uses rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers chain falls and hand winches to move equipment / materials into place
• Conducts preventative maintenance on conveyors lathes mills grinders saws pneumatic and hydraulic systems pumps
• Experience with lathes mills and broaching general shop equipment (drill presses. vertical/horizontal band saws hydraulic presses) measuring and hand tools.
• Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
• Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch
• Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This job reports directly to a supervisor.

Evaluation Required

• Written Machine Tool Repair Skill Assessment (40 questions) 80% is passing.
• Practical Exam upon successful completion of the Written Skills Assessment.

Prefer knowledge of Lathe Mills Cut Off Saw and Drill Press equipment. Machining Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience are a plus.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED and 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
