Shipping & Receiving AssociateThe Shipping & Receiving Associate operates tow motors and forklifts to move materials throughout the facility, packages finished products for shipment, builds shipping crates using hand and power tools, and ensures all materials are prepared, documented, and staged safely and accurately for transport. This role also supports inventory activities and maintains a clean, organized shipping area while following all safety policies and procedures.ResponsibilitiesOperate tow motors and forklifts to move materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.Handle finished products and package them securely for shipment according to established standards.Build shipping crates using hand and power tools, including pneumatic nail guns and staple guns, to protect products during transport.Utilize overhead cranes and perform basic rigging of equipment to ensure stability and safety during lifting and transport.Band crates and secure loads to meet shipping and safety requirements.Use computers and Excel to complete shipping documentation, track materials, and maintain accurate records.Follow all applicable safety policies, procedures, and guidelines while working in the shipping and receiving area.Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and free of debris to support safe and efficient operations.Assist with inventory management tasks, including inventory counts and basic inventory tracking.Perform additional duties such as general clean-up of work areas and supporting other material handling activities as needed.Essential SkillsMinimum 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving or operating forklifts and tow motors.Proven experience operating forklifts and tow motors in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.Experience with overhead cranes and basic rigging to safely move and secure equipment.Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand and power tools, including pneumatic nail guns and staple guns.Proficiency using computers with familiarity in Excel for documentation and basic data entry.Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.Capability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and securing materials and crates.Willingness to work up to 10 hours of overtime when business needs require.Additional Skills & QualificationsAny inventory management or inventory counting experience is a plus.Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse shipping environment is beneficial.Comfort working with banding equipment and other material securing tools.Ability to read and follow basic work instructions, labels, and documentation.Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate packaging, labeling, and documentation of shipments.Why Work Here?Join a long-established industrial manufacturer with over five decades of experience and a strong reputation in power and industrial markets. You will work around heavy industrial equipment, including tow motors, forklifts, overhead cranes, and various hand and power tools. Openings are available on all shifts: 1st shift (6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.), with the expectation of working up to 10 hours of overtime when business demands are high. The dress code requires jeans, a shirt, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and ear plugs, reflecting a safety-conscious, industrial environment where protective gear is standard.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Canton, OH.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
