Responsibilities: Assist with data collection and assessments for behavior support services Assist with the development and implementation of positive behavior support and intervention techniques and plans as part of the IEP process Provide training in data collection and use of positive behavior support and intervention techniques to educational staff Assist in developing augmentative and/or alternative communication systems Monitor student progress and make recommendations for ongoing service Attend IEP meetings to provide information Provide inservice training and presentations to district staff Assist in development of training material and manuals Maintain service‑related records and prepare reports Contact district staff, parents, and other agencies Travel to school sites as required; maintain regular contact with special education certified staff Attend meetings and conferences as assigned Accompany parents and pupils to appointments with health care professionals Perform related duties as assigned Additional responsibilities under the direction of the Special Education Leadership include: Deliver classroom‑based coaching and modeling of Universal/Tier 1 strategies Facilitate professional development and support implementation fidelity Vacancy / Position Specifics: Working Location: Special Education Department – 4100 Normal Street, San Diego, CA 92104 Work Schedule: 10 months per year, 35 hours per week Salary: Paraeducators Salary Schedule Grade 038; $26.33 to $32.81 per hour Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for district‑paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and eligible dependents Bilingual in English/Spanish positions will note a required qualifying test and a 5% bilingual differential Minimum Qualifications: College‑level courses in psychology, special education, or related field and three years of related experience Personality and character traits suited to providing services for students with serious behavior challenges Some positions may require proficiency in a foreign language and/or sign language Equal Opportunity Statement San Diego Unified School District is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education.
