Job Title: Welder and Fabricator
Job Description

This role is for an experienced aluminum MIG welder and fabricator who works primarily on aircraft ground support equipment and large fabricated structures. You will perform production welding on thicker aluminum materials, interpret complex blueprints and welding symbols, and independently set up and operate welding equipment in a fast-paced environment. TIG welding experience is preferred and will be used for fitting and fabrication tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, weld symbols, and job travelers at the start of each shift to understand project requirements and specifications.
• Set up aluminum MIG welding equipment, including selecting and installing 5053 wire, adjusting gas flow, and configuring heat settings for the specific material and joint.
• Perform 3G (vertical) aluminum MIG welds on platforms, frames, and structural components used in aircraft ground support equipment and large fabricated structures.
• Weld in flat, vertical, and occasional overhead positions while maintaining high quality and consistency across all joints.
• Position, align, and secure large assemblies using jigs, clamps, and fixtures to ensure accurate fit-up before welding.
• Grind, blend, and finish aluminum welds to meet structural and cosmetic requirements, ensuring a clean and professional appearance.
• Interpret and apply welding symbols and blueprint details to execute precise welds in accordance with engineering specifications.
• Operate independently in a production environment, managing time and workflow to meet schedule and quality standards.
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies for defects or nonconformance and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work area in safe, clean, and organized condition to support efficient production.

• At least 2 years of hands-on aluminum MIG welding experience in a real-world production or fabrication environment.
• Proficiency in aluminum MIG welding with 5053 wire, including 3G (vertical) welding on thicker aluminum materials.
• Ability to weld confidently in flat, vertical, and occasional overhead positions.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience setting up MIG welding machines, including gas selection, wire setup, and heat settings for aluminum.
• Experience welding thicker aluminum materials beyond light-gauge production work.
• Skill in grinding, blending, and finishing aluminum welds to meet quality standards.
• Ability to work independently in a production environment while maintaining consistent quality and productivity.

• TIG welding experience, particularly with aluminum, is preferred.
• Experience with fabrication tasks such as fitting, layout, and assembly of structural components.
• Background in welding blueprints and welding symbols for complex fabricated structures.
• Experience working with jigs, clamps, and fixtures to position and secure large assemblies.
• Comfort working on aircraft ground support equipment or similar large structural projects.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled production facility that focuses on aircraft ground support equipment and large fabricated aluminum structures. You work on a first-shift schedule Monday through Friday, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with additional Saturday work as needed, and may support a 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shift when required. The environment involves working around welding equipment, grinders, and fabrication tools, handling larger assemblies with jigs, clamps, and fixtures, and wearing appropriate protective gear and work attire suitable for a welding and fabrication shop.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Apopka, FL.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $32.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Apopka,FL.
