Department: SOM KC Anesthesiology Anesthesiology Position Title: Assistant Professor – Anesthesiology Job Family Group: Academic Job Description Summary: The Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center will provide comprehensive, evidence-based anesthesia care across a range of surgical and procedural settings. This faculty member will serve in a clinical educator role with responsibility for the education and supervision of residents, student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs), and medical students. The position includes participation in a collaborative anesthesia care model, supervision of advanced practice providers, and contribution to clinical, educational, and academic initiatives aligned with departmental priorities and areas of expertise. Job Description: Job Duties Provide direct patient care through the delivery of anesthesia services across surgical and procedural settings. Supervise certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) as part of a collaborative anesthesia care team. Instruct and mentor medical students, Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs), and residents in clinical and educational settings. Participate in departmental meetings, conferences, and faculty activities as permitted by clinical and academic responsibilities. Required Qualifications Education: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, or equivalent. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community. Certifications/Licenses: Board Certified/Board Eligible in anesthesiology. Preferred Qualifications Work Experience: Fellowship training in a relevant anesthesiology subspecialty.
