Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shifts, 3x12-Hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), every other weekend. Two out of four holidays required. Float may be necessary across facilities.

Job Description

The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MS RN) will provide high-quality patient care to individuals with medical, surgical, and observation needs. This role requires the ability to manage telemetry cases as part of patient treatment. The majority of the patient population will be medical-surgical, with responsibilities including care for respiratory problems, palliative care, and psychiatric observation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with respiratory conditions and general medical-surgical diagnoses.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as per established protocols.
• Provide education to patients and families about medical conditions and post-discharge care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records using EPIC charting system.
• Conduct EKG interpretations and manage dysrhythmias under established guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience required.
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred.
• EKG competency required; test to be administered during onboarding.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is necessary.
