Senior Cost Accountant

Senior Cost AccountantThe Senior Cost Accountant supports and advances cost accounting processes, including standard cost maintenance, cost roll activities, and financial reporting within JD Edwards (JDE). This role partners with IT and Operations to ensure accurate cost data while increasing involvement in process improvement and ownership over time.Cost Accuracy & Cost RollsEnsure accuracy and completeness of standard costs across branch plants.Review and validate updates to BOMs, routings, and cost components.Support and participate in cost roll processes, including pre- and post-analysis.Partner with IT to resolve cost discrepancies and improve execution.Financial Close & ReportingPrepare and review journal entries related to cost, inventory, and others as needed.Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.Support month-end close and ensure accurate financial reporting.Systems & Process ImprovementCollaborate with IT on system configuration and costing-related enhancements (AAIs/DMAAIs).Identify and support improvements to cost processes and data accuracy.Develop understanding of system-driven cost flows and dependencies.Cross-Functional SupportAct as liaison between Accounting, IT, and Operations for cost-related issues.Provide analysis and insights on cost variances and trends.Special projects as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.5+ years of cost accounting experience.Strong experience with JD Edwards (JDE) ERP system is preferred.Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Advanced Excel skills.Rawlings Sporting Goods Total Compensation Package:Comprehensive medical/dental/vision plansCompany paid life and disability insurance.Paid Parental LeaveEmployee Assistance Program.401k (fully vested immediately) with Company match.Paid time offPaid holidaysOpportunities for advancementEmployee Discount ProgramThis job description does not list all the duties of the job.
