Senior Accountant

Location: Overland Park, KS Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Controller Position Summary Crossroads Investment Lending is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions of our growing private lending business. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, supporting the monthly close process, and assisting with accounting related to our loan portfolio and capital sources. The ideal candidate is an experienced accountant who is detail-oriented, analytical, dependable, and interested in learning the unique accounting requirements of a growing private lending and real estate investment business. Key Responsibilities Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting schedules. Reconcile bank, loan, and balance sheet accounts. Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Monitor and resolve accounting discrepancies. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general accounting functions as needed. Support year-end accounting and audit/tax preparation. Loan & Lending Accounting Record and reconcile loan originations, advances, payments, payoffs, and other loan activity. Accurately record interest income, loan fees, and related transactions. Assist with tracking accrued interest and outstanding loan balances. Reconcile loan records to the general ledger. Assist with accounting for construction draws, loan modifications, extensions, and payoffs. Support reporting related to the performance and profitability of the loan portfolio. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Preferred: Experience in banking, lending, mortgage, real estate, or financial services. Experience with loan or interest accounting. Experience with Sage, or similar accounting systems.
