Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Shift Lead in production is responsible for the safety and productivity of all production employees staffed on designated shift, as well as plant security. Additionally, the Shift Lead position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality parameters. The Shift Lead motivates members of the team to harness their potentials and work harder for the execution of the department goal.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assign tasks to team members and give specific directions and procedures to follow to carry out assigned tasks.
• Monitor team members in the course of their work and ensure that they comply with the standards of operations obtainable in the facility.
• Responsible for ensuring that all machine operators have acknowledged and signed off on the processes specific to the machine operation prior to working independent of the trainer.
• Responsible for providing leadership and building a team culture.
• Motivate workers to enhance production quantity and maintain high production standards.
• Exhibit strong leadership skills by showcasing knowledge and skills, giving direction.
• Recognize contributions of every team member and encourage them to work in harmony, share ideas, and maintain good relationships in the execution of the production plan.
• Hold safety of team members in high esteem and educate on safety tips and procedures to adhere to the Policies and Procedures.
• Evaluates equipment for safety and functionality.
• Work as an advocate between workers and management to create healthy communication.
• Maintain a clean and safe work place in accordance with 5S/Lean/Six Sigma protocols.
• Investigate and report all incidents (spills, accidents, poor performance).
• Coach and counsel employees as needed.
• Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas.
• Ability to understand and adhere to work instructions and the requirements of the ISO standard.
• Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
• Taking accountability for the effectiveness of the quality management system.
• Ensuring that the quality policy and quality objectives are established for the quality management system and are compatible with the context and strategic direction of Rieke.
• Ensuring the integration of the quality management system requirements into the Rieke's business processes.
• Promoting the use of the process approach and risk based thinking.
• Ensuring that the resources needed for the quality management system are available.
• Communicating the importance of effective quality management and of conforming to the quality management system requirements.
• Ensuring that the quality management system achieves intended results.
• Engaging, directing, and supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system.
• Promoting Improvement.
• Supporting other relevant management roles to demonstrate their leadership as it applies to their area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Quality Control lab testing

Intimate operating knowledge of all available processing equipment and processes

Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule

Basic understanding of computers

Good oral and written communication skills

Basic math skills
