Senior Litigation Paralegal

We are a plaintiff-side catastrophic injury and wrongful death firm with a national practice. Our cases arise where crashes happen, which means our dockets span multiple states. Texas and New Mexico are our most active jurisdictions, but cases come in from across the country and you need to be able to move with them. Our cases involve commercial trucking collisions, underride guard failures, and corporate negligence at the highest stakes. We try cases. We do not settle from a position of weakness. Who We Need A paralegal who arrives complete. That means 10+ years of litigation experience and a full command of every core paralegal function, not most of them, not the ones you prefer, all of them. You know how to open a case and you know how to close one. Everything in between is already in your toolkit. On top of that foundation, you have meaningful experience in commercial trucking or catastrophic personal injury litigation. You do not need to have spent your entire career in trucking, but you need to have been deep enough in it to know the terrain. A decade of strong plaintiff-side personal injury litigation with real trucking case exposure is exactly the profile we are looking for. What we will not do is fill gaps. We will not teach paralegal fundamentals. We will not explain trucking litigation from scratch. You arrive knowing both, and you hit the ground running. 10+ years of paralegal experience in litigation Complete, working knowledge of all paralegal functions with no gaps Demonstrated experience in commercial trucking or catastrophic personal injury cases Plaintiff-side experience strongly preferred Ability to work independently across multiple jurisdictions without supervision Candidates with only general civil litigation backgrounds and no trucking or serious injury case exposure will not be considered. Candidates who require training on core paralegal functions will not be considered. What You Will Own Full lifecycle case management from intake through trial across multi-jurisdiction dockets Drafting petitions and complaints from scratch: causes of action, parties, jurisdictional facts, all of it, without attorney hand-holding Defendant identification, location, and service of process coordination, including corporate registered agents, out-of-state entities, and difficult-to-serve defendants Discovery management from both directions: drafting and propounding interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission, as well as preparing complete and properly formatted responses to incoming discovery Analyzing incoming document productions including telematics data, driver logs, maintenance records, and corporate policy documents Independent legal research using LexisNexis, including case law, statutes, and regulations, with the ability to translate that research into polished written work product: legal arguments, pleadings, and motions Drafting motions, responses, and all supporting court filings across jurisdictions Medical records: requesting, tracking, organizing, and filing records from providers across multiple states, with full working knowledge of authorization requirements and HIPAA compliance Deposition preparation and coordination: scheduling, exhibit organization, summary drafting, and follow-up Court filings across state and federal courts wherever a case lands, with the ability to learn any new jurisdiction’s rules independently and quickly Deadline and calendar management with zero tolerance for missed dates Subpoena drafting and service coordination across provider types and jurisdictions Trial preparation: witness lists, exhibit lists, trial binders, and full logistics coordination Direct coordination with retained experts on documentation, scheduling, and file production Client communication handled with professionalism and discretion What You Already Know, Without Exception Every stage of a civil litigation file from intake to verdict How to draft a petition, identify and serve a defendant, and keep a case moving without being prompted Full discovery cycle in both directions: drafting, propounding, responding, and tracking How to research a legal issue from scratch and produce written work product the attorney can file or rely on Medical records procurement across jurisdictions: who to call, what to send, how to follow up, and how to organize what comes back FMCSA regulations as they apply to driver qualification, hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and post-accident protocols ELD and telematics data: what it is, what it proves, how to request it, and how to read it Commercial trucking discovery: what to demand, what to fight for, and what the defense will try to hide Multi-state court rules and e-filing systems, with the demonstrated ability to navigate new ones independently LexisNexis proficiency for legal research InTrial or comparable cloud-based case management software; comfort learning new platforms quickly is essential as we run a modern, tech-forward practice Strong written English; Spanish fluency is a significant plus given our client base and geographic footprint What to Expect Fast pace.
