RN Psychiatric Geriatric

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Montana State Hospital provides skilled nursing care and support to adult clients in a psychiatric inpatient setting, with a specialty in Geriatric Psychiatric Nursing. The role involves nursing assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation to maintain a therapeutic environment. The RN will assign, direct, and train subordinate nursing personnel while ensuring effective communication and documentation. A minimum of 2 years experience in Geriatric Psych Nursing and current Montana RN licensure are required. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Montana (or compact license).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Geriatric Psychiatric Nursing.
• Knowledge of nursing, medications, treatment planning, and psychopharmacology.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to perform accurate patient assessments and documentation.
• Proficiency with patient care information systems.
• Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification highly desired.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 1 year of travel contract experience preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working with psychiatric inpatient treatment programs.
• CPI certification obtained.
• Flexibility with facility scheduling.

Special Considerations:

• Work in a geriatric psychiatric nursing specialty environment.
• Shift differential may be available.
• One meal provided per shift.
• Must be flexible with facility scheduling.
• Travel experience of 1-2 years preferred.

Scheduling:

• Shift: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• Scheduling is flexible according to facility needs.
