Senior Wastewater Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Wastewater Process Engineer to lead the development, optimisation and delivery of wastewater treatment solutions across a range of complex infrastructure and industrial projects. This role will suit an experienced engineer with strong technical expertise, sound commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient and sustainable outcomes. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and operational stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle.


Key responsibilities will include developing process designs, calculations, technical specifications, process flow diagrams and equipment schedules for wastewater and water treatment systems. You will review treatment performance, identify opportunities for process improvement and provide technical support during detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational phases. The role will also involve preparing and reviewing technical reports, tenders and project documentation; managing process engineering deliverables; supporting regulatory and environmental compliance; and contributing to risk assessments, design reviews and value engineering activities. You may also provide technical leadership to junior engineers and help establish consistent engineering standards and procedures.


Applicants should hold a degree in chemical, environmental, civil or process engineering, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial experience in wastewater treatment design and delivery. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation is desirable. Strong knowledge of biological and physical-chemical treatment processes, hydraulic principles, process modelling and relevant industry standards is essential. Experience with treatment plant commissioning, operational troubleshooting, design software and technical assurance would be advantageous. You will need excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
