Come help us redefine what it means to create a better way to live!The role of the porter is to maintain the exterior and interior physical condition of the community according to operating and safety standards. This role is a blend of maintenance work and custodial work.You Will:Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain the appearance of common areas, grounds, and amenities.Clean and sanitize high-traffic areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, and recreational spaces.Monitor and maintain cleanliness of outdoor spaces, including sidewalks, parking lots, and landscaping.Ensure trash and recycling areas are regularly emptied and kept tidy.Conduct routine inspections to identify and report maintenance or safety concerns.Address minor maintenance issues such as light bulb replacement, paint touch-ups, and furniture assembly.Assist residents with moving in and out of apartments, including loading/unloading belongings.Provide friendly and responsive customer service, addressing residents' needs and concerns in a courteous manner.Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a positive resident experience.Maintain outdoor landscaping, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, and planting flowers.Keep outdoor areas clear of debris and litter.Completing work orders.You Have:0-1 year of experience in custodial/ maintenance work.A valid driver's license.Ability to communicate with our associates and residents in order to provide customer service.Ability to read and understand policies and procedures including but not limited to Key Control Policy, Apartment Home Turnover Policy and all Maintenance Emergency policies and procedures.Ability to identify cleaning and chemical supplies, ability to read and understand Hazard Communication Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ability to understand proper applications of chemicals and general cleaning supplies and ability to frequently handle these products.Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ability to use properly.Basic understanding of emergency systems, shutoffs, locations and sequence of operations.Demonstrates knowledge of paint types and paint tools.How AvalonBay Supports You:We know that our teams are the beating heart of our success and we're committed to showing our appreciation.We offer:Comprehensive benefits — health, dental and vision, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and holidays, tuition reimbursement, an employee stock purchase plan and more.Growth based on achievement and promotion from within.Associate recognition (a company-wide recognition program that celebrates associate efforts and successes in contributing to the overall success of the organization – including destination awards, 'AvalonBay's Very Best' recognition program and others!).A 20% discount on our incredible apartment homes.A culture built on purpose and our core values - A Commitment to Integrity, A Spirit of Caring, and A Focus on Continuous Improvement.Additional Info:AvalonBay is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to an inclusive and diverse work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
