Preventative Maintenance Technician

They'll need to bring this with them on their first day of work at Eaton.Industrial Equipment Background Possible Temp To HireBasic Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institutionMinimum five (5) years of progressively responsible journey-level electrical experience; OR, Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance and two (2) years' electrical experienceGeneral knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations (Cal-OSHA, EPA, NFPA, NEC)Valid CA driver's license required with clean DMV recordAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English fluentlyPosition Criteria:Principles of electronic theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring and electrical equipment used in power generationTheory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer based equipmentAbility to install, including programming, and troubleshooting PLC-based equipment.Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings, electrical schematics, and sketchesAnalyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of actionProficient written and verbal communication skills.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.Candidate must have a strong desire to be a part of a start-up/high growth company in a fast-paced, results-orientated culture.Preferred Qualifications:Previous work experience within the Aerospace Industry and/or Industrial Manufacturing IndustryPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to or below shoulder level, lift, carry, push, pull, and use hands to handle and feel.The employee is frequently required to climb and reach above shoulder level.The employee is also required to exert 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and / or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and /or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric controls, fire alarms, and clock systemsInstalls, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems, including all manufacturing/assembly equipment (CNC Mills, Lathes, Drills) and programmable lighting controlsEnsures site fire alarms and emergency electrical systems are operational; performs certification testing on alarm systemsMaintains electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the county, state and federal levelsMonitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and reports back to SupervisorDemonstrate safe and proficient use of shop tools (both hand and power)Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC'sCompetent with programming of VFD'sProficient in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of systemDemonstrate mechanical knowledgeAssists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new constructionPerform work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixturesPerform rigging activities, safety-related functions and other miscellaneous electrical functionsSafely utilize a forklift and high liftComply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keep assigned work-area clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards.
