Applications Engineer

The Applications Engineer (AE) supports Amphenol-CDI Engineering, Marketing and Sales teams to provide technical support for new and existing customers in the assigned region. The AE develops and maintains relations with customer's design and manufacturing engineers by understanding problems and providing solutions via presentations, proposals, quotations, and samples. The AE analyzes opportunities and makes recommendations to drive sales growth and sustainment by supporting customer purchasing and planning organizations.

Essential job functions include engaging customer base in engineering design phase for new product development, performing technical review of customer specifications, making recommendations for the optimal Amphenol-CDI product solution to meet customer requirements, assessing cost impact of customer requirements, changes to develop cost estimates, creating customer-facing configuration and specification drawings in support of proposals, traveling to customer sites as needed to support existing business and win new opportunities, interpreting customer drawings, specifications, and standards to develop product designs, monitoring industry/market trends and requirements to provide input into new product innovations and anticipated customer demands, working with Marketing to identify product and pricing to compete in territory, communicating design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues, and manufacturability enhancements to Outside Sales and customer technical contacts as necessary, providing support to Amphenol-CDI Manufacturing Engineering to develop processes as needed to support customer requirements, in support of Marketing, creating customer-facing materials for use in advertisements, literature and websites, providing quick response and resolution to customer technical issues and problems involving industry standards, specifications, design assistance, production capabilities, and material requirements, and performing other duties as required to meet the goals and objectives of the company.

Education and experience include a B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent, the ideal candidate will have experience in RF interconnects and/or Filter Connector Products, 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, and background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.

Language requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and conversational in any other language is a plus.

Physical demands include sitting for lengthy periods while operating a computer, frequently using hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally, standing, walking, reaching, and occasionally lifting objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding. Personal protective equipment requirements include ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas, clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas, hearing protection in specific locations, and ability to comply with JSA in specific areas.

Travel includes approximately 30% to 50% of travel expected.

Salary information includes a range between $90,000 and $125,000 annually, considering various factors such as position's responsibilities, scope of work, candidate's work experience, education/training, essential skills, internal pay equity, and market considerations.
