Metal Finisher/Grinder/Timesaver Responsibilities:

• Utilize hand grinders, stroke sanders, belt sanders, and other grinding tools and equipment.
• Set up and run timesavers and other types of automatic deburring machines.
• Follows work order procedures and routings; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions, drawings, and specifications provided for the job.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. Follows Control of Nonconforming Product Procedure.
• Follows procedures in relation to inspection of parts.
• Cross Train in other areas of the plant as necessary to meet production demands.
• Adheres to all safety rules and guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Metal Finisher/Grinder/Timesaver Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certificate or degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of metal finishing tools/equipment.
• Basic understanding of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Basic understanding of mathematics.
• Ability to measure parts with edge testers, surface profilometers, calipers and micrometers.
• Good teamwork skills.
• Ability to pass a grinding assessment.
