Assistant Director of Finance Delano Miami Beach provides a unique blend of historic charm and modern luxury. Job Description Under the general guidance of the Director of Finance, the Assistant Director of Finance directs day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and maintaining compliance with company and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting and finance duties, including on‑site food and beverage operations. Execute full‑cycle month‑end close, prepare financial statements, conduct account analysis and reconciliations, and manage budgeting and forecasting. Maintain data integrity by developing system controls, standard operating procedures, and continuous process improvements. Support implementation and upgrades of front‑of‑house systems that impact financial reporting. Assist the Director in planning, recruiting, hiring, training, cross‑training, and developing the property’s finance and accounting staff. Take appropriate personnel actions related to staffing, performance management, and discipline. Perform timely month‑end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis. Manage payroll entries, coordinate with HR and payroll providers, and support year‑end audits and compliance. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing technical guidance, professional development, and performance evaluations. Monitor budget compliance, support cost‑control measures, and train operational leaders on financial management practices. Ensure legal, treasury, and tax documentation is accurate, maintained, and secured; comply with all statutory and fiscal reporting obligations. Maintain hotel compliance with regulatory requirements, contracts, leases, tax filings, and legal obligations. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Director of Finance or senior leadership. Provide lateral service as required by the hospitality industry, performing related tasks on a routine basis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. Minimum five years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least two years in a hotel or hospitality setting and one to two years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong understanding of hotel accounting principles, including full‑cycle month‑end close, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management. Proficiency in accounting systems and hotel property management systems (e.g., Opera, SunSystems, M3, BirchStreet). Excellent knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls; experience with audit preparation and financial compliance practices. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret and present financial data clearly. Effective leadership and team‑management abilities: training, mentoring, and evaluating accounting staff. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) and solid skills in Word and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey financial information to finance and non‑finance stakeholders. Strong organizational skills; manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Discretion, professionalism, and integrity handling confidential information. Knowledge of hotel operations and interdepartmental functions for cross‑functional collaboration. Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements—including tax, labor, and licensing laws. All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance per department uniform guidelines.
