TITLE: Math/ELA Tutor (19.5 hours) – 1 year only - DiPietro Elementary School POSITION SUMMARY: To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in ELA and/or Mathematics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the classroom teacher and math/literacy specialists to provide rigorous, small group strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class. Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments. Meet routinely with the math/literacy specialists and Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs. Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports. Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings. Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture. Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture. Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program. Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee. Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

SKILLS/ABILITY

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful. Understanding of or experience using Bridges program, math manipulatives and/or standardized reading programs helpful. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS Experience teaching ELA and/or Mathematics at K-3 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred. Experience with BAS, Cloze, TOSWRF, and Running Records is helpful. Understanding of or experience using standardized reading programs preferred. Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in instruction in ELA/Math. Salary $30/hour up to 19.5 hours/week. Classification Non-Union.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion. Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.
