About the Role Location: Boron, California. Hourly rate: $42.13. We are looking for a Millwright Journeyperson to join the Rio Tinto Maintenance Department and provide construction, installation, relocation, repair, and preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities for optimum operating efficiency. Responsibilities Coordinate Millwright’s function with overall plant operations. Use power and hand equipment to perform varied types of rigging, often at heights requiring climbing and the use of safety lines or bos’n chairs. Splice hemp and wire rope. Diagnose and repair all types of equipment, including pumps, elevators, screw conveyors, belting, material handling, crushers, centrifuges, and dryers. Perform oxy‑acetylene or arc welding to fabricate, install, or repair equipment. Determine size and type of welding rod, proper heat application and welding required; perform butt, fillet, horizontal, vertical and overhead welding on plate, structural steel, pipes and machinery. Install, repair, clean and replace pipes and fittings for refrigeration, steam, air, water, ammonia, acid process and other industrial pipelines. Install, repair, clean and replace domestic water and sewer lines. Read, understand and utilize information in blueprints and drawings related to the installation or repair of equipment. Routinely inspect, test and operate equipment to determine whether it is functioning properly and safely. Study information on new equipment and participate in training related to its maintenance. Assist in training less‑skilled employees. What You’ll Bring A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team. One to two years of experience in metal fabrication, arc welding, oxygen and acetylene welding. Preferred experience repairing shovels, pipelines, pumps, crushing and conveying equipment. To qualify as a First Class Millwright, must be a Journeyman Craftsman with a minimum of four years of relevant experience. High School Diploma or GED. Valid state driver’s license.
