The Airports Systems Technician responds to system outages or impacts as the first line of defense to troubleshoot issues and restore service. Responsibilities Monitor, install, alter, maintain and repair Baggage Handling System (BHS) Controls, Domestic Water Controls, Energy Management Control Systems, Storm Water Control Systems, Autoclave Controls, access control system‑managed electronic door and gate hardware, Passenger Boarding Bridge Controls, and other electrical equipment within the City of Fresno Airports Department. Support and maintain field‑level hardware components of the Airport's Security Systems in coordination with the Information Services Department (ISD). Benefits Salary: $5,677–$6,897 per month. UNIT 3 Classification – The Fresno City Employees Association, Inc. (FCEA) Health Insurance – City contributes toward monthly premiums for PPO medical, dental, and vision for employee and dependents. Flexible Spending Account – IRS 125 Plan for health and dependent care expenses. Deferred Compensation – Voluntary 457 plan with Fidelity Investments. Vacation Leave – Accrue 8–14.66 hours per month based on years of service. Sick Leave – Eight (8) hours per month, available after 90 days; Supplemental Sick – 40 hours per fiscal year (80 hours lifetime maximum). Holidays – Ten (10) City‑observed annual holidays plus birthday and two (2) personal days. Short Term Disability – Provided through California SDI program. Bilingual Premium Pay – $100 per month. Health Reimbursement Arrangement – Eligible retirees can use remaining Sick Leave balance at 80% of hourly rate and other leave balances, if applicable, to reimburse medical insurance and qualified medical expenses, tax free. Retirement – City of Fresno Retirement Systems; Vested after 5 years; no Social Security for city employees. Deferred Retirement Option Program – Optional voluntary program allowing up to 10 years of work while depositing retirement benefits into a special savings account. Requirements Two (2) years of experience working with mechanical/conveyor systems, energy management controls, security system hardware components, people‑moving systems and controls, or related systems. Possession of a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and proof of license & driving record. Ability to pass TSA‑mandated Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA). Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 10‑year employment history verification, including a criminal history records check. Successful completion of a department interview and Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment. Selection Process Written Examination – 100% to assess reading of engineering plans, specifications, and knowledge of Airports Systems principles and practices. Candidates must achieve a passing score. Written exam tentatively scheduled for the week of June 29, 2026. Veterans Preference Candidates applying for veterans preference must submit a copy of their DD214 with the application during the specified filing period and evidence of honorable discharge.
