What You'll Do

Prepare tissue specimens for analysis, including embedding, cutting, staining, and labeling slides
Perform special procedures such as immunohistochemistry, special stains, plastic embedding, and decalcified bone processing
Ensure quality control through documentation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Assist in managing workload, adjusting schedules to meet deadlines
Maintain accurate records of all specimens and control slides
Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
Collaborate with pathologists, supervisors, and fellow team members effectively
Educate and mentor staff on new procedures and quality standards
Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards

What You Need
Required:

Current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (Specialist or Generalist)
ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) certification
Minimum 2 years of histology experience
Proficiency with Windows applications and data entry
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

Experience with immunohistochemistry and advanced histology techniques
Ability to work efficiently under production pace and handle multiple priorities
