Locum Orthopedic Surgery Opportunity – Iowa

A healthcare system in Iowa is seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for ongoing call coverage with clinic and surgical responsibilities.

Compensation: Hourly: $355/hr, Overtime: $415/hr, Night Call: $355, 24 Hour On Call: $2,875, Call Back: $415/hr.

Coverage Dates

Required Coverage:

June 23 (7:00 AM) – June 26 (7:00 AM)

July 3 (7:00 AM) – July 15 (7:00 AM)

Ongoing coverage opportunities available beyond these dates.

Call Coverage Required

Ongoing need

Schedule

Clinic: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

24-hour orthopedic call coverage

Follow-up clinic visits for assigned patients

Inpatient rounding, consults, and surgical coverage

Clinical Responsibilities

Orthopedic trauma call coverage

Inpatient and emergency department consults

Post-operative patient rounding

Surgical procedures

Outpatient clinic follow-up care

Supervision of Advanced Practice Providers

Required Procedures

Candidates must be comfortable performing:

Total hip replacement

Total knee replacement

Total shoulder replacement

Hand and wrist procedures

Knee procedures

Shoulder procedures

Hip procedures

Foot and ankle procedures

Fracture care

Sports medicine procedures

Orthopedic trauma surgery

General orthopedic surgical care

Practice Details

Four orthopedic surgeons

Seven advanced practice providers

Dedicated nursing and cast technician support

Two exam rooms and three cast rooms available

Medical imaging, laboratory, and pharmacy services onsite

Teaching opportunities available through residency and PA student programs

Patient Population

Regional referral center serving 16 surrounding counties

Service area population exceeding 200,000

Average hospital census: approximately 160 patients daily

Requirements

Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon (Board Eligible not accepted)

Active Iowa medical license required

Clean malpractice and background history

Ability to cover both required date blocks

Experience performing the full range of required orthopedic procedures

Current Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation

Credentialing & Travel

Travel assistance available per facility guidelines

Application and credentialing fees are not reimbursed

Ideal Candidate

Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with strong trauma and joint replacement experience

Comfortable managing both clinic and hospital responsibilities

Available for extended call coverage blocks

Licensed in Iowa and ready for credentialing
