Reports to: • Subject Area Curriculum Coordinator • Principal Full‑time status: 100% FTE, 40 hours per week, 10‑month contract Essential Job Functions Support the philosophy and mission of the school, including its projects, FITS, workshops, and goals. Plan, prepare, organize, and deliver student learning experiences. Motivate, guide, and direct students in study skills, social‑emotional learning, and academic learning. Propose new ideas to the administration and help implement and evaluate existing ones. Engage in continuous professional development and growth in the teaching profession. Meet all Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements for teacher credentials. Professional Expectations Available for all assignments by 7:45 a.m. and remain in the building until 3:30 p.m.; notify the appropriate administrator when leaving. Notify the Principal’s Administrative Assistant of absences per policy; supply assignments on Google Classroom or indicate substitute packet locations. Attend on‑call duties 2‑3 days prior to school opening and for five days after exams. Follow the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grade/department curriculum. Maintain student privacy, review student records only for assigned classes, and uphold confidentiality. Maintain professionalism in all school matters and adhere to the employee dress code. Professional School‑Wide Duties Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, professional development activities, an open house, and support curriculum and department programs. Engage in supervisory duties (recess, lunch, arrival/dismissal, hallway, bathroom, studies, classes for absent teachers) as directed by the Principal. Supervise students during class hours and after‑school activities; provide direct supervision during the school day. Chaperone or assist with at least one extra‑curricular event a year. Professional Classroom Responsibilities Maintain records of student grades, communicate with students and parents, and develop progress reports each term. Arrive on time, teach the full duration of each class, and shift non‑class business to other times. Take attendance for each period, cross‑check with absentee lists, and report missing students immediately. Review with students all published materials (e.g., Student Handbook). Prepare substitute packets or Google Classroom posts for each class in case of absence. Provide one preparation period per day, subject to school limits; consider proctoring duties as needed. Lead or co‑lead a project or workshop aligned with the school’s mission; may perform other duties as requested. Handle behavior disruptions by sending students to the Dean of Students and discussing matters promptly. Obtain Principal approval for field trips at least two weeks in advance; submit names and permission slips promptly. Job Requirements Pass all criminal background checks. Licensed as an Early Childhood Educator by DESE. At least one year of relevant teaching experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
