About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU/PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU/PCU, large Level 1/2 facility experience preferred License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units - EPIC charting experience required - IV therapy skills: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance - Respiratory support skills: BiPAP & CPAP management, ventilated patient care - Medication administration skills: continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips - Wound care skills: surgical wounds with drains or wound vacs - Cardiac monitoring: dysrhythmia interpretation and management - Understands IV insulin protocol adherence Description: This position requires a registered nurse to float between ICU and PCU units. The nurse must be experienced and comfortable with the patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU and 5:1 in PCU. The role requires the ability to float 2-3 times per shift based on staffing needs. Weekend and holiday work is required as part of the schedule. Candidates should have experience in medication administration of continuous IV sedation and the management of emergency medications. The nurse will also be responsible for wound care and the management of surgical wounds and drains. Experience in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing cardiac patients is essential. The facility provides a range of interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
