Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful difference helping a high school-aged student succeed with the support of a talented Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This contract role focuses on providing direct instruction and guidance to a 9th-grade student, offering personalized educational support in a school setting near Waverly, VA. With a flexible schedule of 20 hours per week and potential openness to full-time arrangements, you'll have the opportunity to focus deeply on individualized, impactful teaching.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired.
- Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Strong ability to develop and implement customized instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for engaging with students, families, and school staff.
- Compassion, patience, and a student-focused approach to education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1-on-1 instruction to a 9th-grade student for 4 hours each day, tailoring lessons to meet her unique learning needs.
- Develop and adapt curriculum materials and resources in accessible formats.
- Assess the student’s progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to create an inclusive educational environment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the student’s goals, progress, and instructional strategies used.
