Faculty Position in Behavioral Pharmacology Department of Pharmacology The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas at San Antonio The Department of Pharmacology in The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center (UT San Antonio Health Science Center) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Associate Professor level. We seek an outstanding mid-career scientist with an innovative, externally funded research program focused on understanding the neurobiological mechanisms underlying substance use disorders. Applicants with expertise in behavioral pharmacology and translational models of substance use disorders are especially encouraged to apply. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the use of nonhuman primate and other translational models, interactions between sleep and addiction-related behaviors, as well as research programs utilizing advanced behavioral, pharmacological, and mechanistic approaches to understand and treat substance use disorders. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program, contribute to graduate and professional education, and participate in collaborative research initiatives across UT Health San Antonio. The candidate will have opportunities to interact with established institutional programs in addiction neuroscience, including the Addiction Research, Treatment & Training (ARTT) Center of Excellence, and contribute to multidisciplinary efforts focused on understanding the mechanisms underlying substance use disorders and developing novel therapeutic strategies. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front‑loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
