Cardinal Senior Living is looking for a Director of Wellness who "leads from the floor"

This role requires someone who communicates constantly, builds trust quickly, brings positive energy into the building, and is comfortable moving between resident care, employee coaching, family conversations, clinical decision-making, and operational leadership throughout the day.

• Be the clinical technician and teacher on the floor.
• You will coach caregivers and nursing staff in real time, reinforce proper clinical practices, provide hands-on instruction, and ensure the team understands not just what to do, but how to do it correctly.
• When the team needs help, you step in.

Resident Care & Clinical Quality

• Ensure residents receive safe, consistent, appropriate care based on their individual needs.
• You will maintain oversight of assessments, RASPs, medications, physician orders, hospital returns, documentation, and changes in condition while ensuring care plans are actually translated into day-to-day execution.

• Build a nursing team capable of delivering the standard consistently.
• You will set expectations, coach performance, train employees, address gaps, help maintain staffing continuity, and create greater capability across the department.
• The goal is not to become the person who has to solve every problem forever.
• The goal is to build a team that gets stronger because of your leadership.

• Be a trusted, visible clinical leader for residents and families.
• Strong communication is critical in this role. You will explain care decisions clearly, address concerns early, follow through on commitments, and build confidence through responsiveness and transparency.

• Clinical leadership directly affects the health of the operation.
• You will help maintain appropriate staffing, reduce avoidable disruption, manage resources responsibly, maintain continuity of care, and make decisions with an understanding of their impact on both residents and the business.

• Maintain strong standards around medication management, infection control, documentation, staffing, resident safety, state requirements, and Cardinal policies.
• You should recognize risk early, take appropriate action within your authority, and escalate issues before they become larger problems.

Within 90 days:  You know the people and the residents. You understand the level of care provided by the community and have developed working knowledge of our RASP process and DMEs. The team knows what you expect, and you have established credibility through presence, communication, and execution.

Within 6 months:  You demonstrate in-depth working knowledge of PCC and Cardinal’s clinical processes. You are operating with greater independence, strengthening the capabilities of the team, and consistently driving clinical and operational follow-through.

Within 12 months:  You fully own the role. You understand the residents, people, systems, clinical standards, risks, and operating rhythms of the department and can lead the function with confidence, sound judgment, and appropriate autonomy.

• You communicate exceptionally well.
• You are highly social and relationship-oriented and gain energy from working closely with employees, residents, families, and other leaders.
• You teach instead of simply correcting.
• You are comfortable providing direct feedback and holding people accountable while maintaining strong relationships.
• You are clinically credible enough to demonstrate the work yourself.
• You notice when something is off and act rather than waiting for someone else to solve it.
• You stay calm when priorities compete.
• You follow through.
• And when the team is under pressure, you are willing to get on the floor and help get the job done.

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
• Strong clinical knowledge and hands-on resident care capability
• Ability to train, coach, direct, and evaluate nursing and care staff
• Strong communication and relationship-building ability
• Experience with resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and clinical documentation
• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond appropriately to urgent clinical needs
• PCC experience strongly preferred
• Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to work full-time on-site
• Travel of less than 5%
