House Supervisor (RN) - Day Shift Featured Job Facility National Jewish Health - Main Campus National Jewish Health is seeking a Clinical House Supervisor (RN) to serve as a go‑to clinical resource during business hours. This position will be supporting staff, assisting with coordinating patient care, responding to emergencies, and ensuring safe, seamless patient flow across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty service lines. This role has the opportunity to: Work a 3x12 shift, including 3 Saturdays per month. This role is eligible for a weekend shift differential. Lead clinical response during emergencies (Rapid Response, Code Blue, security events) Coordinate staffing, triage needs, critical values, and urgent clinical issues Support teams across inpatient, immediate care, ancillary, and outpatient services Troubleshoot complex clinical challenges, including IV access, lab draws, and equipment concerns Promote safe transport, after‑hours coordination, and adherence to NJH policies and standards Serve as a trusted clinical partner for frontline staff, providers, and leadership This role is ideal for an experienced RN who brings confident leadership, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to patient safety. The Clinical House Supervisor serves as a trusted resource across the organization, supporting staff, coordinating urgent needs, and ensuring seamless, high‑quality care delivery. Position Summary To function as the on‑site administrative authority for Nursing Service and provide direct operational supervision of all nursing units while on duty. To assist the Director of Nursing by supervising staff, problem‑solving, initiating changes, providing crisis intervention and ensuring safe care. Ensures adequate and safe staffing for patient care units. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance. Demonstrates clinical competence in routine assessment and interventions as evidenced through the departmental competency program. Utilizes clinical opportunities to teach/guide staff in appropriate interventions in patient care. Implements care and services that recognize age‑specific needs and issues for customers served. Ensures that employees meet defined performance standards and documents performance and any additional identified issues on assigned staff. Assists with problem‑solving within nursing units and other hospital departments. Monitors and provides administrative support to clinical staff. Acts as staff back‑up covering for meetings. Responsible for outside pool staff. Includes credentialing and evaluating performance of outside staff, as well as maintaining current contracts with agencies, monitoring billing. Collaborates with the nursing staff, medical director(s) of various units and multidisciplinary health care team to provide cost‑effective, quality patient care delivery that is consistent with national standards and guidelines. Ensures adequate and safe staffing for nursing units based upon defined criteria and interaction with unit based clinical nursing managers/clinical coordinators. Assists with supervisory coverage secondary to illness, absences, and vacations (knowledge of Pharmacy, Triage). Utilizes clinical opportunities to teach/guide staff in appropriate interventions in patient care. Serves as resource person to staff for age‑appropriate care of patients, advanced nursing skills, and institutional and department policies. Integrates patient education philosophy and goals into nursing practice and monitors outcomes. Participates in quality improvement in nursing by directing appropriate activities and by encouraging staff to develop and contribute to QI programs. Collaboration/Teamwork: Cooperates with others to accomplish common goals; works with employees and across his/her department to achieve shared goals; treats others with dignity and respect and maintains a friendly demeanor; values the contributions of others [SPP 10]. Leadership: Encourages innovation in practice and role performance to attain personal and professional plans, goals, and vision; manages change and conflict; retains accountability for delegated nursing care; contributes to the evolution of the profession through participation in professional organizations. [SPP 11]. Professional Development: Actively identifies new area with preceptor learning opportunities and unit specific competencies; regularly creating and taking advantage of learning opportunities; using newly gained knowledge and skill to enhance contribution to the organization [SPP 12, 15]. Evidence‑based Practice and Research: Integrates evidence and research findings into practice; articulates the values of research and its application relative to the healthcare setting; identifies questions in the healthcare setting and practice that can be answered by nursing research; uses current evidence‑based knowledge, including research findings, to guide practice; incorporates evidence when initiating change in practice [SPP 13]. Quality of Practice: Contributes to quality nursing practice: Ensures practice is safe, effective, efficient, equitable, timely, and patient centered; identifies barriers and opportunities to improve safety, effectiveness, efficiency, equitability, timeliness, and patient centeredness; recommends strategies to improve nursing quality [SPP 14]. Supervisory or Managerial Responsibility Manages 5-10 employees Core Values Be available to work as scheduled and report to work on time. Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others. Be well groomed, appropriately for your role and wear ID Badge visibly. Be in compliance with all departmental and institutional policies, the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and completes NetLearning by due date annually. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's in Nursing or Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing required. Work Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of recent and related general pediatric or adult medical experience preferred for general adult and pediatric units (Medical‑Surgical experience required for Adult Special Care Unit. Critical Care experience preferred). Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current Colorado RN license required. CPR/BLS and current ACLS or PALS required.
