Field Sales Representative — Chicago

Shef is looking for a Field Sales Rep who knows the Chicago restaurant scene inside and out — someone as comfortable walking into a kitchen mid-prep as they are digging through Instagram to find the city's best undiscovered cooks. You'll own the full top of our funnel: finding talented chefs, caterers, and restaurant operators, pitching them on Shef, and getting them to apply.

What you'll do

• Pound the pavement — generate and vet leads through in-person outreach, social media, and online research
• Pitch our business model directly (often face-to-face) to chefs, caterers, and restaurant owners
• Coordinate with Shef's culinary team to shape strategy for each lead
• Follow up persistently and creatively to move leads to application
• Track your pipeline and progress against goals

Who you are

• You know hospitality — ideally you've worked in a kitchen, restaurant, or catering operation yourself
• You understand the real challenges operators face: food costing, production, sourcing, margins
• You love food and are endlessly curious about different cuisines
• You're a self-starter who's always finding a new angle when the first approach doesn't land
• You're comfortable knocking on kitchen doors and hearing "no" — and coming back with a better pitch
• Bonus: deep familiarity with Chicago food scene and neighborhoods
